Employment agency Manpower is looking for a fermentation technician for a company in Wageningen.

In this role, you work closely with scientists and specialists in multidisciplinary teams, combining hands-on laboratory work with analytical thinking and reporting. As a fermentation technician, you will be responsible for:
  • Conducting fermentations of microbial products such as starter cultures and probiotics
  • Analyzing final and intermediate products
  • Supporting the fermentation scientist and executing experimental studies efficiently
  • Optimizing existing fermentation and downstream processes
  • Understanding technical issues and their impact on yield and culture viability
  • Collaborating with teams in fermentation, formulation, freeze-drying, application and analysis
  • Processing and interpreting experimental data
  • Writing experimental reports in English
  • Presenting technical data internally

  • An MBO or BSc (HBO) degree in Life Science, Biochemical Engineering, Food Process Engineering, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology or a related field
  • Preferably experience with fermentation of microbial products
  • Willingness to learn new laboratory techniques
  • Critical and analytical mindset with a hands-on mentality
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
  • Proactive, curious and ownership-driven work attitude
  • Strong communication skills and flexibility in a dynamic environment
  • Good command of the English language for reporting and communication
  • Knowledge of the Dutch language is a plus
